  4.     REPRIMANDED. Alfonse D'Amato, 54, Republican U.S. Senator from
  5. New York; for acting "in an improper and inappropriate manner"
  6. by allowing his brother to use his office on behalf of the Long
  7. Island, N.Y., division of Unisys, a defense contractor; by the
  8. Senate Select Committee on Ethics; in Washington. After a
  9. 19-month inquiry, the committee announced that it had found no
  10. evidence that D'Amato acted illegally on behalf of Unisys in
  11. exchange for campaign contributions. It did not recommend any
  12. punishment by the full Senate. But, in issuing the harsh
  13. condemnation of a colleague, the committee faulted D'Amato for
  14. "failing to establish appropriate standards for the operation
  15. of his office."
